Sports in American Education
You are invited to a lecture "Sports in American Education" on Monday, October 31 at 6 p.m. Anthony’s love for Eastern Europe developed at an early age. He recalls, among other things, listening to his grandfather tell stories about the experiences of different members of his family emigrating from Poland. His interest was further cultivated as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University where he studied Russian, Bulgarian, Old Church Slavic, and the history of Eastern Europe. Anthony’s academic and professional interests were also shaped by a two-year LDS mission to Bulgaria (1999-2001) and a summer in Kiev, Ukraine working with a professor on issues of religious freedom.
After graduating from BYU in August of 2003, Anthony accepted an offer of admissions to the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle. After the completion of his first year of law school, Anthony was admitted into the University of Washington’s MA program in Russian and Eastern European Area Studies. The degree combination proved to be a truly rewarding experience for Anthony, as he was able to read the law and study Eastern Europe at the same time. www.fulbright.ru
